Mj Rodriguez created history at the Golden Globes this year by becoming the first transgender actress to win the Best Actress Award in the Drama category for Pose. She thanked everyone and said that the door is now open for the LGBTQIA+ community.

At the 79th edition of Golden Globes, Mj Rodriguez became the first trans actress to win best actress award for her portrayal of Blanca Evangelista in Netflix’s Pose. She dedicated her win to "young LGBTQAI babies."

Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "OMG! Wow! You talking about sickening birthday present! Thank you! This is the door that is going to Open the door for many more young talented individuals. They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would with love. Love wins!
